At Blackden…
Broken Gravestone of John Hocknell bears inscription that reads: “… of John Hocknell, son of George and Joan Hocknell, of the Brown Edge in this parish who was here interrd March the 4 th 1764 aged 70 years”. The stone may have been brought from the village of Brereton, c.10 miles from Blackden; it was turned over and re-worked as a cheese press.
