Creativity

The Blackden Trust was founded on creative faith, and creativity permeates its activities.  Conversations in the chimney generate new ideas and lead to innovative work across disciplines; in science as well as in the arts; in our educational workshops and in the performance pieces created by artists, storytellers, musicians, writers and actors that celebrate heritage and place.

The ten foot square timber-framed chimney that rises up through the roof at the junction of two downstairs rooms is the stage for performances at The Old Medicine House.  It has a perfect acoustic for performers, and the audience seated on either side is never further than 8 metres from the action. This gives the event an intimacy that is appreciated by everybody present.

So far our events have fallen into by three categories

Story, Music and Visual Arts.

Please look at our Special Interest Days page for future projects.
